| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: hci_core: Serialize fragmented ISO packet queueing The fragmented path in hci_queue_iso() calls __skb_queue_tail() without holding conn->data_q.lock. The socket lock serializes senders, but the transmit worker can concurrently remove packets from this queue using skb_dequeue(). After an insertion saves the old tail pointer, hci_sched_iso() can dequeue that packet and pass it to the driver. The driver can free the packet before the insertion resumes and writes to the old tail's next pointer, causing a use-after-free. Concurrent updates can also corrupt the queue. KASAN reported: BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in hci_send_iso+0xc7d/0xe10 Call Trace: hci_send_iso+0xc7d/0xe10 iso_sock_sendmsg+0x710/0x900 __sys_sendto+0x34a/0x3a0 Allocated by task 86: __alloc_skb+0xdd/0x820 alloc_skb_with_frags+0x7e/0x770 sock_alloc_send_pskb+0x67a/0x820 bt_skb_sendmsg.constprop.0+0xc0/0x6c0 iso_sock_sendmsg+0x44e/0x900 Freed by task 90: kmem_cache_free+0xcb/0x3d0 vhci_read+0x33f/0x4d0 vfs_read+0x177/0xa20 Hold the queue lock across the entire fragment batch, as hci_queue_acl() does, to serialize insertion against dequeue while preserving fragment ordering. | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: mac80211: keep paired old chanctx alive An in-place replacement keeps reciprocal replace_ctx pointers between the old WILL_BE_REPLACED chanctx and the new REPLACES_OTHER chanctx. However, the early free paths only consider assigned and reserved link users when deciding whether to free the old chanctx. That lets the old chanctx be freed too early while the replacement partner still points back to it, either when the last assigned link is released or when that link successfully reassigns to another existing context. Later unreserve and switch-finalization paths can then follow a stale replace_ctx pointer. Keep a paired old chanctx alive until the replacement pair has been torn down. Apply the same check to both __ieee80211_link_release_channel() and ieee80211_link_use_reserved_reassign(). If the replacement is later abandoned, ieee80211_link_unreserve_chanctx() already tears down the pairing before freeing the old chanctx once no users remain. | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: USB: serial: fix driver deregistration order USB serial driver modules register one driver for the USB bus and one or more drivers for the ports on the USB serial bus. When unloading a driver module, the USB driver must be deregistered before the USB serial bus drivers so that I/O is stopped before unbinding the ports to avoid use-after-free in completion handlers accessing port data. Note that the "new_id" attributes must first be removed to prevent new ids from being added and triggering a probe of the USB driver after it has been deregistered. | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iio: light: gp2ap020a00f: drain irq_work after free_irq The threaded IRQ handler queues data->work through irq_work_queue() so the trigger is polled from a per-CPU context. free_irq() does not flush an irq_work the handler already queued, so after gp2ap020a00f_remove() returns that work may still run and call iio_trigger_poll() on data->trig, which the devm cleanup has already freed, causing a use-after-free. Add irq_work_sync(&data->work) after free_irq() in remove() and in the probe error path, mirroring commit 78601726d4a5 ("iio: trigger: sysfs: fix use-after-free on remove"). Found by an in-house static analysis tool, confirmed by manual review. | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/nouveau/uvmm: fix UAF in nouveau_uvmm_sm when BO is in TTM_PL_SYSTEM nouveau_uvmm_sm() calls op_map(), which passes bo->resource through nouveau_mem() to nouveau_uvma_map(). nouveau_uvmm_vmm_map() then reads mem->mem.type. But this is only valid when bo->resource is backed by struct nouveau_mem, as is the case for VRAM and TT resources. If the BO is left in TTM_PL_SYSTEM, bo->resource is only a struct ttm_resource. Treating it as struct nouveau_mem makes the mem->mem.type read past the end of the resource, causing a KASAN: slab-use-after-free Read in nouveau_uvmm_sm report: BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in nouveau_uvmm_vmm_map drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nouveau_uvmm.c:152 [inline] BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in nouveau_uvma_map drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nouveau_uvmm.c:199 [inline] BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in op_map drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nouveau_uvmm.c:849 [inline] BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in nouveau_uvmm_sm.constprop.0+0x6ab/0x900 drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nouveau_uvmm.c:903 Read of size 1 at addr ffff888127d3e3a0 by task kworker/0:1/11 CPU: 0 UID: 0 PID: 11 Comm: kworker/0:1 Not tainted 7.2.0 #5 PREEMPT(lazy) Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (Q35 + ICH9, 2009), BIOS 1.16.3-debian-1.16.3-2 04/01/2014 Workqueue: nouveau_sched_wq_2224 drm_sched_run_job_work Call Trace: <TASK> __dump_stack lib/dump_stack.c:94 [inline] dump_stack_lvl+0x95/0xe0 lib/dump_stack.c:120 print_address_description mm/kasan/report.c:378 [inline] print_report+0xcb/0x5a0 mm/kasan/report.c:482 kasan_report+0xca/0x100 mm/kasan/report.c:595 nouveau_uvmm_vmm_map drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nouveau_uvmm.c:152 [inline] nouveau_uvma_map drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nouveau_uvmm.c:199 [inline] op_map drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nouveau_uvmm.c:849 [inline] nouveau_uvmm_sm.constprop.0+0x6ab/0x900 drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nouveau_uvmm.c:903 nouveau_uvmm_sm_unmap drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nouveau_uvmm.c:932 [inline] nouveau_uvmm_bind_job_run+0xd6/0x250 drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nouveau_uvmm.c:1532 nouveau_job_run drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nouveau_sched.c:350 [inline] nouveau_sched_run_job+0x62/0xd0 drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nouveau_sched.c:364 drm_sched_run_job_work+0x356/0xa10 drivers/gpu/drm/scheduler/sched_main.c:1061 process_one_work+0x8a5/0x1900 kernel/workqueue.c:3322 process_scheduled_works kernel/workqueue.c:3405 [inline] worker_thread+0x5dd/0xd80 kernel/workqueue.c:3486 kthread+0x31d/0x420 kernel/kthread.c:436 ret_from_fork+0x662/0x940 arch/x86/kernel/process.c:158 ret_from_fork_asm+0x1a/0x30 arch/x86/entry/entry_64.S:245 </TASK> Allocated by task 2224 on cpu 0 at 66.550027s: kasan_save_stack+0x24/0x50 mm/kasan/common.c:57 kasan_save_track+0x17/0x60 mm/kasan/common.c:78 poison_kmalloc_redzone mm/kasan/common.c:398 [inline] __kasan_kmalloc+0xaa/0xb0 mm/kasan/common.c:415 kasan_kmalloc include/linux/kasan.h:263 [inline] __do_kmalloc_node mm/slub.c:5334 [inline] __kmalloc_noprof+0x304/0x7c0 mm/slub.c:5359 _kmalloc_noprof include/linux/slab.h:992 [inline] dma_resv_list_alloc+0x27/0x90 drivers/dma-buf/dma-resv.c:106 dma_resv_reserve_fences+0x60e/0xa30 drivers/dma-buf/dma-resv.c:205 ttm_bo_alloc_resource+0x12c/0xbd0 drivers/gpu/drm/ttm/ttm_bo.c:721 ttm_bo_validate+0x1bc/0x4a0 drivers/gpu/drm/ttm/ttm_bo.c:856 ttm_bo_init_reserved+0x2c3/0x570 drivers/gpu/drm/ttm/ttm_bo.c:970 nouveau_bo_init+0x159/0x2c0 drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nouveau_bo.c:359 nouveau_gem_new+0x234/0x5f0 drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nouveau_gem.c:272 nouveau_gem_ioctl_new+0x1eb/0x420 drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nouveau_gem.c:352 drm_ioctl_kernel+0x192/0x350 drivers/gpu/drm/drm_ioctl.c:817 drm_ioctl+0x4f8/0xb40 drivers/gpu/drm/drm_ioctl.c:914 nouveau_drm_ioctl+0xea/0x2c0 drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nouveau_drm.c:1338 vfs_ioctl fs/ioctl.c:51 [inline] __do_sys_ioctl fs/ioctl.c:597 [inline] __se_sys_ioctl fs/ioctl.c:583 [inline] __x64_sys_ioctl+0x180/0x1d0 fs/ioctl.c:583 do_syscall_x64 ar ---truncated--- | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ipv6: mcast: use rcu_assign_pointer() for __rcu list updates Several places in net/ipv6/mcast.c update RCU-protected lists (np->ipv6_mc_list, idev->mc_list, idev->mc_tomb) using direct pointer assignments instead of rcu_assign_pointer(): 1. In __ipv6_dev_mc_dec(), unlinking a group from idev->mc_list did: *map = ma->next; without rcu_assign_pointer() while concurrent readers traverse idev->mc_list locklessly under rcu_read_lock(). 2. In ipv6_sock_mc_drop() and __ipv6_sock_mc_close(), unlinking a group from np->ipv6_mc_list directly assigned *lnk = mc_lst->next and np->ipv6_mc_list = mc_lst->next without rcu_assign_pointer(), racing with lockless readers in inet6_mc_check(). 3. In __ipv6_sock_mc_join(), mc_lst->next was initialized to np->ipv6_mc_list via raw assignment before publishing mc_lst. 4. In mld_del_delrec() and __ipv6_dev_mc_inc(), __rcu source pointers passed into rcu_assign_pointer() lacked explicit dereference helpers. Fix these by consistently using rcu_assign_pointer() along with mc_dereference() / sock_dereference(). | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: btqcomsmd: destroy RPMsg endpoints before freeing hci_dev The command and ACL RPMsg endpoints store struct btqcomsmd as their callback private data. The receive callbacks dereference btq->hdev without taking an hci_dev reference. The current teardown order frees the hci_dev before destroying the RPMsg endpoints in both the hci_register_dev() error path and the driver remove path. If WCNSS delivers data in that window, the endpoint callback can run with an already freed hci_dev and pass it to the Bluetooth core. For qcom_smd endpoints, rpmsg_destroy_ept() closes the channel and clears the callback under the channel recv_lock. The receive path holds the same lock while invoking the callback, so destroying the endpoints first both prevents new callbacks and serializes with any callback already running. Destroy the command and ACL endpoints before hci_free_dev(). Keep hci_unregister_dev() first during remove so the HCI core stops issuing operations before the transport endpoints are shut down. In the full registration-error cleanup path, return directly after freeing the hci_dev to avoid falling through to the partial-construction labels and destroying the endpoints twice. | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: qla2xxx: Skip vport under deletion in report ID acquisition qla24xx_report_id_acquisition() format-1 handling walks ha->vp_list under vport_slock, takes a vref_count on the matching vport and calls qla_update_host_map() to register its port id. A vport teardown via qla24xx_vport_delete() sets VPORT_DELETE, then qla24xx_disable_vp() removes the vport from the host_map btree and zeroes vha->d_id (RESET_AL_PA). The vport is only unlinked from vp_list later, in qla24xx_deallocate_vp_id(), which clears vp_map[idx] (RESET_VP_IDX) but does not touch host_map. In the window in between, report ID acquisition can still find the vport on vp_list and call qla_update_host_map(); with d_id already zeroed it takes the btree_insert32() path and re-inserts the dying vport into host_map. Nothing cleans that entry afterwards, so once scsi_host_put() frees the vha a later host_map lookup dereferences freed memory. Skip a vport that has VPORT_DELETE set before taking the reference, so it is neither re-registered nor scheduled for DPC re-registration. This mirrors the existing guard in qla2x00_alert_all_vps(). | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: pinctrl: mediatek: paris: bypass pinctrl GPIO layer in set GPIO direction pinctrl_gpio_direction_input() / pinctrl_gpio_direction_output() take the pinctrl mutex. This causes a gpiochip operations to need to sleep. Worse yet, the .can_sleep field in the gpiochip is not set. This causes the shared GPIO proxy to trip over, as it uses gpiod_cansleep() to check whether it can use a spinlock or needs a mutex. In this case, it ends up taking a spinlock, then calls pinctrl_gpio_direction_output(), which takes a mutex. This causes a huge warning. While this class of Mediatek hardware does not have separate clear/set registers, the pinctrl context has a spinlock that is taken whenever a register read-modify-write is done. Also, once the GPIO function is selected / muxed in, further GPIO operations do not involve pinctrl operations or state. The GPIO direction and level values do not require toggling the pinmux or any other pin config options. Switch to directly calling mtk_pinmux_gpio_set_direction() in the GPIO set direction callbacks to avoid taking the pinctrl mutex. Drop the .gpio_set_direction field in mtk_pmxops to signal we are no longer using the pinctrl GPIO layer for setting the direction. | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: virt: acrn: Fix irqfd use-after-free during eventfd shutdown acrn_irqfd_deassign() and the eventfd EPOLLHUP wakeup can race and free the same struct hsm_irqfd: CPU0 CPU1 ---- ---- eventfd_release() wake_up_poll(EPOLLHUP) hsm_irqfd_wakeup() queue_work(&irqfd->shutdown) acrn_irqfd_deassign() hsm_irqfd_shutdown() list_del_init() eventfd_ctx_remove_wait_queue() eventfd_ctx_put() kfree(irqfd) hsm_irqfd_shutdown_work() container_of(work, ..., shutdown) irqfd->vm <-- use-after-free The deassign path freed the irqfd while a shutdown work item was already queued by EPOLLHUP (or vice versa), so the work item could resurrect a dangling pointer through container_of(). Switch to the lifetime model used by KVM irqfds: - Deassign/deinit only deactivate the irqfd: remove it from vm->irqfds under irqfds_lock and queue the cleanup work. - hsm_irqfd_shutdown_work() becomes the sole owner that unhooks the eventfd waitqueue entry, drops the eventfd reference and frees the irqfd. - A new HSM_IRQFD_FLAG_SHUTDOWN bit guarded by test_and_set_bit() ensures the cleanup work is queued at most once, no matter how many of {EPOLLHUP, deassign, deinit} fire concurrently. This is safe to call from the waitqueue callback, which runs with wqh->lock held and IRQs disabled and therefore cannot take irqfds_lock. - acrn_irqfd_deassign() flushes vm->irqfd_wq before returning so the eventfd is fully detached on return. acrn_irqfd_deinit() deactivates every irqfd, flushes the workqueue and only then destroys it, so no path can queue_work() onto a torn-down workqueue. - acrn_irqfd_assign() now installs the eventfd waitqueue entry and publishes the irqfd to vm->irqfds under irqfds_lock, so the irqfd is never visible to deassign/deinit before its waitqueue entry is in place, and any EPOLLHUP that fires in the assign window queues cleanup work that blocks on irqfds_lock until publication is done. | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: powerpc/xive: propagate IPI init errors to prevent use-after-free When xive_init_ipis() fails (e.g. irq_domain_alloc_irqs() fails), the error path frees the global xive_ipis array. However, xive_smp_probe() previously ignored this failure and proceeded to call xive_setup_cpu_ipi(), which dereferences the already-freed xive_ipis pointer -- a use-after-free. Now that xive_smp_probe() returns int (previous patch), propagate the error from xive_init_ipis() and xive_setup_cpu_ipi() through xive_smp_probe(). Check the return value in both pnv_smp_probe() and pSeries_smp_probe() so that IPI setup is aborted cleanly on failure, avoiding the use-after-free. | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ACPI: bus: Introduce acpi_bus_get_primary_device() The function used for obtaining the first "physical" device for which the given ACPI one is the ACPI companion, acpi_get_first_physical_node(), may return a stale device pointer (mostly in theory) because acpi_unbind_one() may run as a whole after dropping the ACPI device's physical_node_lock in acpi_get_first_physical_node() and before it returns. The last reference to the "physical" device may be dropped then before the pointer to it is returned to the caller. If that happens and the acpi_get_first_physical_node() caller invokes get_device() on the pointer obtained from it, which is done by the majority of its callers, a use-after-free will occur. To prepare for addressing this problem, introduce a new function for getting the first "physical" device associated with the given ACPI one (the "primary physical device") that will also reference count the device in question before returning a pointer to it. Make that new function and acpi_get_first_physical_node() share the physical node list lookup code. No intentional functional impact. | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nfsd: convert nfsd_net boolean flags to unsigned long flags word nfsd_net contains several boolean fields that are accessed from concurrent contexts without serialization. In particular, nfsd4_end_grace() guards its drain path with a plain bool: if (nn->grace_ended) return; nn->grace_ended = true; The read and the write are independent, and nothing in struct nfsd_net serializes them. At least two contexts can reach this code with no lock held: laundromat path laundry_wq kworker nfs4_laundromat() nfsd4_end_grace() RECLAIM_COMPLETE path nfsd compound kthread nfsd4_reclaim_complete() inc_reclaim_complete() nfsd4_end_grace() Both callers can observe grace_ended == false on different CPUs, both store true, and both proceed into nfsd4_record_grace_done(), which invokes the active client_tracking_ops->grace_done callback. For tracking ops that drain reclaim_str_hashtbl (legacy_tracking_ops via nfsd4_recdir_purge_old, and the cld v1+ ops via nfsd4_cld_grace_done), grace_done calls nfs4_release_reclaim(), which walks every bucket of reclaim_str_hashtbl with no lock and calls nfs4_remove_reclaim_record() (list_del + kfree) on each entry. Two concurrent walkers corrupt the list and double-free every nfs4_client_reclaim. A concurrent nfsd4_find_reclaim_client() iterating the same bucket reads through freed memory. A third call site exists in nfs4_state_start_net() on the skip_grace startup path, but it runs under nfsd_mutex before any client has connected and before the laundromat's first delayed work fires, so it cannot race with the two callers above. Replace the scattered boolean fields in nfsd_net with a single unsigned long flags word and an enum nfsd_net_flag for the bit positions. The grace_ended race is fixed by using test_and_set_bit(), which is atomic on all architectures. The remaining flags (grace_end_forced, in_grace, somebody_reclaimed, track_reclaim_completes, nfsd_net_up, lockd_up) are converted to use test_bit/set_bit/clear_bit for consistency. This avoids sub-word cmpxchg issues on architectures like Hexagon that only support word-sized atomic operations. | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iommu/arm-smmu-v3: Manage teardown with devm arm_smmu_device_remove() manually frees the IOPF queue, destroys the vmid_map and disables the device, while the IRQs and queues are devm managed. devm unwinds only after remove() returns, so the cleanup runs in the wrong order. The IOPF queue is freed before the event-queue IRQ whose handler uses it. Manage all of it with devm so the unwind order is correct. Free the IOPF queue and vmid_map via devm actions, and disable the device from one registered after arm_smmu_device_reset(). This is also a prerequisite for fixing a Tegra241 CMDQV CMD_SYNC use-after-free in the subsequent patch. | ||||

Fix the token lifetime by refcounting struct virtio_pmem_request. virtio_pmem_flush() holds a submitter reference, and the virtqueue holds an extra reference once the request is queued. The completion path drops the virtqueue reference, and the submitter drops its reference before returning. | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/v3d: Clear queue->active_job when v3d_fence_create() fails The run_job() callbacks for BIN, RENDER, TFU and CSD assign the incoming job to queue->active_job before calling v3d_fence_create(). If v3d_fence_create() fails, the callback returns NULL without clearing active_job, leaving a dangling pointer. Create a failure path in all run_job() callbacks that clears the active job before returning NULL. The BIN path takes queue->queue_lock around the clear as it races against v3d_overflow_mem_work(); RENDER, TFU and CSD paths have no concurrent reader, so the clear is lock-free. | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/display: Fix dangling pointer in plane reset function amdgpu_dm_plane_drm_plane_reset() frees the old state before allocating a new one. If kzalloc() fails, the function returns without updating the state pointer, leaving a dangling pointer to already freed memory. Fix this by allocating the new state first. On allocation failure, the old state remains untouched and the function safely returns. Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE.
