CVE-2026-98796 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: ethernet: mtk_eth_soc: allocate dummy netdev sooner The RX rings and the shared NAPI are carried by an internal "dummy" netdev (eth->dummy_dev). mtk_probe() creates that dummy device, and adds the shared tx/rx NAPI to it, only after the MAC netdevs have been registered. That order has been there since the MT7623 support was added and leaves a window in which the netdevs are visible to the network core before the shared NAPI and the dummy device exist. If anything brings the first netdev up during that window (e.g. netifd opening the WAN link the instant the interface is registered), the first-open path runs without them. On NETSYS v2 and later SoCs mtk_rx_alloc() -> __xdp_rxq_info_reg() then dereferences eth->dummy_dev == NULL: WARNING: CPU: ... Missing net_device from driver in net/core/xdp.c and mtk_open() fails with -ENODEV. On NETSYS v1 SoCs (MT7621/MT7622/MT7623/MT7629) there is no page pool, so the same open instead calls napi_enable() on a napi_struct that netif_napi_add() has not initialised yet and dereferences a NULL napi->dev. Allocate the dummy netdev and add the shared tx/rx NAPI to it before the register_netdev() loop. Both the dummy-allocation failure and a register_netdev() failure now unwind through mtk_unreg_dev(), which unregisters the net_device notifiers and the netdevs registered so far, stopping a concurrently-opened netdev (ndo_stop) and its NAPI before the dummy carrier is freed. A netdev that opened during the window can also have queued the frame-engine reset worker (via the tx watchdog or phylink), so the probe error path now cancels eth->pending_work before freeing the shared state, as mtk_cleanup() already does on remove.
CVE-2026-98785 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/display: check dc_state_create_copy() for NULL in dm_suspend dc_state_create_copy() can return NULL on allocation failure. dm_suspend() only conditionally skips dm_gpureset_toggle_interrupts() and continues execution, returning success. dm_resume() then dereferences the NULL cached_dc_state in link_enc_cfg_copy() and the following dc_state->stream_count loop, crashing during GPU reset recovery. Return -ENOMEM immediately if the copy fails, so the caller aborts suspend instead of leaving a NULL cached state for resume. (cherry picked from commit 84b6d7932fdd2857795a257f9f258562a3cddcab)
CVE-2026-98783 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/mediatek: Add missing IS_ERR check for ovl_adaptor platform device platform_device_register_data() can fail and return an ERR_PTR, but the return value is used without checking, leading to an invalid pointer being stored in ddp_comp[].dev and passed to component_match_add() and mtk_ddp_comp_init(), which could result in a kernel crash. Add an IS_ERR() check to jump to the error handling path on failure.
CVE-2026-98764 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: gadget: f_fs: Fix NULL pointer dereference in FUNCTIONFS_ENDPOINT_DESC When user space sets up FunctionFS with only full-speed descriptors (e.g., flags = FUNCTIONFS_HAS_FS_DESC) and the gadget operates at a higher speed (such as USB_SPEED_HIGH or USB_SPEED_SUPER), config_ep_by_speed() detects that the function lacks descriptors for the current speed, logs a warning, and falls back to full-speed descriptors. The endpoint is then successfully enabled via usb_ep_enable(), and epfile->ep becomes valid. However, when user space subsequently issues the FUNCTIONFS_ENDPOINT_DESC ioctl to query the endpoint descriptor, ffs_epfile_ioctl() selects the descriptor index solely based on gadget->speed: switch (epfile->ffs->gadget->speed) { case USB_SPEED_SUPER: case USB_SPEED_SUPER_PLUS: desc_idx = 2; break; case USB_SPEED_HIGH: desc_idx = 1; break; default: desc_idx = 0; } desc = epfile->ep->descs[desc_idx]; memcpy(&desc1, desc, desc->bLength); Because user space only supplied full-speed descriptors, epfile->ep->descs[1] is NULL. Dereferencing desc->bLength triggers an immediate kernel NULL pointer dereference panic. Fix this by falling back through lower speed descriptors if the current speed descriptor was not supplied, matching the fallback logic in config_ep_by_speed() and historical f_fs behavior. If still missing, fall back to epfile->ep->ep->desc (the active descriptor), and return -EINVAL safely if no valid descriptor is found. In addition, mark desc as const to match struct usb_ep::desc and avoid discarding qualifiers.
CVE-2026-98756 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: cdns3: Fix NULL pointer dereference in cdns3_pci_probe The Cadence USBSS controller is a two-function PCI device. The first probed function allocates the driver data and stores it with pci_set_drvdata(), while the second function reuses it via pci_get_drvdata() when pci_is_enabled() reports that the first function has already been probed. When the second function is probed while the first one has been enabled but has not yet set its driver data, pci_get_drvdata() returns NULL, and the subsequent wrap->devfn assignment dereferences a NULL pointer and crashes the kernel. logs: Call trace: cdns3_pci_probe+0xa4/0x300 local_pci_probe+0x44/0xa8 pci_call_probe+0x54/0x158 pci_device_probe+0x84/0x100 really_probe+0x184/0x3d0 __driver_probe_device+0x80/0x178 driver_probe_device+0x44/0xe8 __driver_attach+0xec/0x1f8 bus_for_each_dev+0x7c/0xe0 driver_attach+0x28/0x38 bus_add_driver+0x110/0x238 driver_register+0x64/0x128 __pci_register_driver+0x50/0x60 cdns3_pci_driver_init+0x28/0x38 do_one_initcall+0x5c/0x280 do_initcalls+0x104/0x1d8 kernel_init_freeable+0x140/0x218 kernel_init+0x28/0x1f8 ret_from_fork+0x10/0x20 Return -EPROBE_DEFER in this case so that probing is retried after the first function has completed its probe.
CVE-2026-98752 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tty: port: fix tty_port_tty_vhangup() race Drivers rely on tty_port_tty_vhangup() to synchronously hang up their ports before tearing down resources as part of deregistration (e.g. on physical disconnect). If tty_port_tty_vhangup() races with another hangup it may however return before the port has been shut down. This is in turn can lead to use-after-free and NULL-pointer dereferences in racing ioctls (including a synchronous hangup) and in processing of racing asynchronous hangups (carrier loss). Add the missing serialisation to tty_port_tty_vhangup() and tty_port_hangup() so that the former does not return until the port has been shut down also when there is a racing hangup. Note that serial core does not use tty_port_hangup(), but it already holds the port mutex when clearing port->tty and shutting down the port in uart_hangup().
CVE-2026-98717 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: x86/mmu: Bail from shadow walks if the root is invalid or a dummy When walking shadow page tables, immediately terminate the walk if the root is a "dummy" root, i.e. a root whose top-level page table is backed by the zero page, but otherwise doesn't exist. If memslot creation races with a stage-2 page fault (EPT violation or #NPF) from L2, then if the stars align, KVM will attempt to walk shadow page tables using the zero page and hit a NULL pointer deref. Alternatively, KVM could allocate a dedicated page and associated shadow page structure for the dummy root, which is very tempting as it such an approach should be more resilient against unexpected behavior. But that would be a much larger and thus riskier change than simply terminating walks of dummy roots.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: perf/core: Fix NULL pmu_ctx passed to pmu->sched_task() perf_pmu_sched_task() returns early when cpuctx->task_ctx is set, and cpc->task_epc is only non-NULL while a task context is scheduled in on this CPU. __perf_pmu_sched_task() therefore always passes NULL: Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00 pc : armv8pmu_sched_task+0x14/0x50 Call trace: armv8pmu_sched_task+0x14/0x50 (P) perf_pmu_sched_task+0xac/0x108 __perf_event_task_sched_out+0x6c/0xe0 Pass &cpc->epc instead, the CPU-wide context for this PMU, which the function already dereferences a few lines up to find pmu. armv8pmu_sched_task() is the only in-tree implementation that dereferences the argument, and it only reads ->pmu, so the oops needs BRBE, added in v6.17.
CVE-2026-98134 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: check_cond_jmp_op(): properly infer if register is null Nicholas Carlini reported a bug when verifier can incorrectly infer that a pointer is non-null. The bug occurs when two pointers are compared and one of them has a type w/o PTR_MAYBE_NULL flag, but which allows a value to be NULL at runtime. Here is an example: // `a` is PTR_TO_MEM | MEM_RDONLY | PTR_UNTRUSTED // `a` is 0 at runtime. // `b` is PTR_TO_MAP_VALUE | PTR_MAYBE_NULL void *a = bpf_rdonly_cast(0, 0); int *b = bpf_map_lookup_elem(...); if (a == b) *b = 42; // verifier does not catch null pointer dereference This happens because of a special case in check_cond_jmp_op(), which attempts to strip PTR_MAYBE_NULL flags from pointer types, when processing comparisons like `rA == rB`, if either rA or rB can't be null. The non-null property is derived based on the absence of PTR_MAYBE_NULL flag on rA's or rB's type. But that is not sufficient for types like PTR_TO_MEM, as in the example. This patch replaces type_may_be_null() call with reg_not_null(), which contains an allowlist of types for which absence of PTR_MAYBE_NULL actually means that the value can't be NULL at runtime. At the moment, the list in the reg_not_null() omits two types for which PTR_MAYBE_NULL is applicable: PTR_TO_XDP_SOCK and PTR_TO_BUF. In order to remain backward compatible, and assuming that only comparison between pointers of the same type makes sense, this commit extends reg_not_null(). W/o such an extension e.g. verifier_jeq_infer_not_null/null_ptr_to_map_value fails. reg_not_null() can be extended further, but I deem that out of scope for the fix at hand. Explicit base_type(...) != PTR_TO_BTF_ID checks in the check_cond_jmp_op() can be removed with migration to reg_not_null(), but that is a behavioural change, as the special case would start matching for PTR_TO_BTF_ID that is also is_trusted_reg(). I omit the behavioural change from this commit.
CVE-2026-98062 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Mark signal tracepoint siginfo arguments as scalar The signal_generate and signal_deliver tracepoints declare their info argument as a struct kernel_siginfo pointer. btf_ctx_access() therefore treats it as a trusted pointer for tp_btf programs. Signal delivery also uses SEND_SIG_NOINFO and SEND_SIG_PRIV as special values for this argument. Those values are zero and one respectively, and are not pointers. A tp_btf program can currently dereference either value and fault the kernel. In particular, signal_generate can run from timer interrupt context, turning the fault into a kernel panic. Record both tracepoints in raw_tp_null_args[] and mark argument one as a non-pointer. This preserves scalar access to the cookie while rejecting direct and helper-mediated pointer use. Merely marking it nullable would not suffice because SEND_SIG_PRIV is nonzero.
CVE-2026-98043 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Don't infer non-NULL from a pointer with an unbounded offset reg_not_null() decides that a register holds a non-NULL value by looking at its type alone. For pointer types that allow arithmetic the type only guarantees a non-NULL base, in case of an unbound offset the runtime offset value might still add up to NULL. Consider the followng program: r6 = bpf_map_lookup_elem(map, &0); /* present */ if (r6 == 0) return 0; r7 = bpf_map_lookup_elem(map, &1); /* absent, NULL at runtime */ r8 = r7; r8 -= r6; /* pointer - pointer: unknown scalar, -r6 */ r8 <<= 1; r8 >>= 1; /* any non-negative offset is accepted by */ /* check_reg_sane_offset_ptr() */ r6 += r8; /* verifier: map value; runtime: zero */ if (r7 != r6) return 0; *(u8 *)(r7 + 0); /* r7 is inferred non-NULL, both are zero */ At runtime both registers are zero, the comparison is true and the load faults with NULL pointer dereference. Require the offset to be within +-BPF_MAX_VAR_OFF in reg_not_null().
CVE-2026-98038 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Keep refcount_acquire nullable for borrowed RCU kptrs bpf_refcount_acquire() is fallible for a borrowed reference because the object may have reached a zero refcount. The verifier therefore keeps KF_RET_NULL on the return value unless the argument is an owning reference. An RCU-protected load of a local kptr is marked MEM_ALLOC, but it only receives NON_OWN_REF when the pointee contains a graph node. A refcounted object without a graph node consequently looks like an owning reference even though the loaded register has no acquired reference state. If the program drops the last real reference while remaining in the RCU critical section, refcount_inc_not_zero() returns NULL while the verifier treats the result as non-NULL. Only classify the argument as owning when it is backed by a verifier-tracked reference. This retains the non-NULL return for pointers from bpf_obj_new(), bpf_kptr_xchg(), or an earlier successful acquisition, while requiring a NULL check for borrowed RCU kptrs. CVE-2026-97989 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vduse: validate virtqueue alignment vduse_validate_config() only checks the upper bound of vq_align. Invalid values can therefore reach vring_create_virtqueue_map(). The split-ring helpers use align - 1 as a bit mask, so the alignment must be a non-zero power of two. A zero value makes vring_size() drop the descriptor and available-ring part and vring_init() leave the used ring pointer NULL. The VIRTIO spec requires the used ring to start at an address aligned to at least 4 bytes. Reject values below VRING_USED_ALIGN_SIZE as well as non-power-of-two values before they reach the virtio ring helpers. Opening a virtio-net device created with vq_align=0 triggered: BUG: KASAN: null-ptr-deref in virtqueue_kick_prepare_split+0xe3/0x100 Read of size 2 at addr 0000000000000000 by task systemd-network/1062 Call Trace (relevant frames): dump_stack_lvl print_report kasan_report __asan_load2 virtqueue_kick_prepare_split+0xe3/0x100 virtqueue_kick_prepare+0x40/0x60 try_fill_recv+0x857/0x1250 virtnet_open+0x189/0x460 __dev_open+0x225/0x390 __dev_change_flags+0x368/0x3b0 netif_change_flags+0x56/0xc0 do_setlink.isra.0+0x68c/0x1e30 Validate the value before it reaches the virtio ring helpers.
CVE-2026-97975 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 7.0 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: hci_sysfs: Fix NULL pointer dereference in device_del() A NULL pointer dereference in klist_put() occurs when a child device (such as a BNEP network device in bnep_session) is concurrently being unregistered while hci_conn_del_sysfs() reparents child devices. This is caused by a race condition between hci_conn_del_sysfs() and concurrent child device unregistration (e.g. bnep_session calling unregister_netdev()). During device unregistration, device_del() snapshots a non-NULL parent pointer. Concurrently, hci_conn_del_sysfs() finds the child device using device_find_any_child() and calls device_move() to reparent it to NULL, which removes the node from its parent's klist and clears knode_parent. Subsequently, device_del() calls klist_del(&dev->p->knode_parent) using the stale parent snapshot, causing klist_put() to dereference knode_klist(n)->put on an already removed node, resulting in a NULL pointer dereference. This race was introduced by commit 27aabf27fd01 ("Bluetooth: fix use-after-free in device_for_each_child()"), which replaced device_find_child(..., __match_tty) with device_find_any_child() in hci_conn_del_sysfs(). That change was intended to avoid a use-after-free where conn->dev outlived its parent hdev->dev when child devices held references to conn->dev, because conn->dev only held a reference to hdev->dev while registered in sysfs. Fix the issue properly by taking an explicit reference to the parent device with get_device(&hdev->dev) in hci_conn_init_sysfs() and dropping it with put_device(parent) in bt_link_release() when the conn device is freed. This ensures that hdev->dev remains valid for the entire lifecycle of conn->dev, resolving the underlying use-after-free. With the parent reference held properly, restore the __match_tty filter in hci_conn_del_sysfs() so that device_move() is only invoked on persistent RFCOMM TTY devices as originally intended, eliminating the race condition with unregistering network devices.
CVE-2026-97605 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: erofs: preserve LZMA decoders on resize failure The pool-resize path frees each stream's old decoder before allocating its replacement. If an allocation fails after some streams have already been replaced, the failed stream is put back on the list with state == NULL. z_erofs_lzma_max_dictsize is still advanced as if the whole pool had been resized. An existing LZMA mount can select the broken stream and pass NULL to xz_dec_microlzma_reset(). A retry at the same size also skip another resize attempt. Since the global maximum was advanced, thus, the invalid state is left unrepaired. Allocate each replacement before freeing the old decoder, temporarily retaining one old decoder during allocation. Stop at the first failure and advance z_erofs_lzma_max_dictsize only after all streams satisfy the request. Record each stream's dictionary capacity so retries can skip streams already enlarged before a partial failure.
CVE-2026-97537 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: qla2xxx: Fix queue teardown NULL dma_free and bitmap locking qla25xx_free_req_que() and qla25xx_free_rsp_que() have two pre-existing bugs exposed on the error path of qla25xx_create_{req,rsp}_que(): 1. When dma_alloc_coherent() fails during queue creation, the error path calls the free function with req->ring / rsp->ring still NULL (from kzalloc). The unconditional dma_free_coherent() with a NULL cpu_addr is undefined behavior and can panic. 2. The free functions clear req_qid_map / rsp_qid_map under vport_lock, but the create functions protect the same bitmaps with mq_lock. This provides no mutual exclusion. Additionally, the create error path clears the bit and releases mq_lock before calling the free function, creating a window where another thread can allocate the same que_id and have its ha->req_q_map entry clobbered by the subsequent lockless NULL assignment in the free function. Fix by: - Guarding dma_free_coherent() with a NULL check on the ring pointer. - Using mq_lock (the lock held by all creators) in the free functions to atomically NULL the map entry and clear the bitmap bit. - Removing the now-redundant clear_bit blocks from the create error paths since the free functions handle it atomically.

The IRQ thread looks for the m2m_ctx which is freed so null pointer dereference occurs.
CVE-2026-97480 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tty: serial: 8250: protect against NULL uart->port.dev in register serial8250_register_8250_port() conditionally copies uart->port.dev from up->port.dev only when up->port.dev is non-NULL: if (up->port.dev) { uart->port.dev = up->port.dev; ... } So if both the existing uart slot and up have a NULL ->dev, uart->port.dev remains NULL. The very next ACPI companion check then dereferences it unconditionally: if (!has_acpi_companion(uart->port.dev)) { has_acpi_companion() reads dev->fwnode without a NULL guard (include/linux/acpi.h), so this NULL-derefs the kernel for the remaining no-dev case rather than just skipping the mctrl_gpio_init() initialisation as intended. smatch flags the inconsistency: drivers/tty/serial/8250/8250_core.c:767 serial8250_register_8250_port() error: 'uart->port.dev' could be null (see line 719) Guard the call with a NULL check so register continues to work for callers that legitimately have no parent device (legacy non-OF/non-ACPI registrations). No functional change for callers that pass a non-NULL ->dev.

CVE-2026-93172 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/mm_init: handle alloc_percpu failure in free_area_init_core_hotplug We miss a failed allocation check for pgdat->per_cpu_nodestats, which results in a NULL deref when we offset into the per-cpu area. Propagate -ENOMEM up the stack and leave per_cpu_nodestats pointing at boot_nodestats so a later online can retry the allocation. hotadd_init_pgdat() returns NULL on failure, which __try_online_node() already maps to -ENOMEM. On failure nothing needs to be unwound: - the node is never marked online - per_cpu_nodestats is left pointing at boot_nodestats - __add_memory_resource() cleans up pending memblock resources - later online attempts retry the per_cpu_nodestats allocation
