CVE-2026-98869 1 Linux 2 Linux, Linux Kernel 2026-10-22 N/A
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Infer zext_dst based on static register liveness analysis As reported in the thread [1], the verifier's 32-bit operations zero extension logic is broken. This logic is responsible for correct semantics of 32-bit operations on s390 architecture. According to BPF semantics, operation `w1 += 1` is supposed to zero extend the upper half of the register `r1`. On s390 the JIT relies on the verifier emitting explicit zero extension before such operations. The verifier attempts to minimize the amount of zero extensions inserted by tracking whether upper halves of the 64-bit registers are ever used. Previously such tracking worked as follows: - bpf_reg_state->subreg_def field was set by do_check_insn() for each operation defining lower but not the upper halves of the register. - Whenever an operation reading the whole register was verified, the verifier checked register's subreg_def and set bpf_insn_aux_data->zext_dst flag as true via a call to mark_insn_zext() function. - After the verification was complete, a special pass bpf_opt_subreg_zext_lo32_rnd_hi32() extended 32-bit operations with bpf_insn_aux_data->zext_dst set as true by adding explicit zero extension. Note that the logic above relies on bpf_reg_state->subreg_def, which is a property of a current verifier state. Before the commit [2] two additional steps happened: - The verifier tracked upper and lower register halves' liveness as flags REG_LIVE_READ{32,64} in bpf_reg_state->live. - The function propagate_liveness() called mark_insn_zext() in order to transfer the knowledge about which registers have their upper halves alive (and thus might require zero extension). The commit [2] removed the two steps described above, hence making possible a situation like below: - The register's upper half is set and is used on some verification path P1 and the register happens not to be marked as precise. - The checkpoint C is created while processing some instruction between register initialization and usage. - On some other verification path P2 the register's upper half is not initialized and that path ends hitting the checkpoint C. - In such a case the register's initialization on path P2 would lack zext_dst mark, making it possible for the program to inject an arbitrary value in the register's upper half. This commit replaces subreg_def based logic with computing zext_dst statically, as a part of the bpf_compute_live_registers() analysis: - The analysis now tracks usage of upper and lower halves of the registers separately. - If some instruction defines a 32-bit subregister, but not the whole register, *and* the upper half of the register is alive after that instruction, the instruction is marked as zext_dst. There is one notable drop in precision: whenever a BPF subprogram is called, all 64 bits of parameter registers are presumed to be used. The assumption is that such a drop in precision would not inflict a noticeable performance penalty. CVE-2026-98146 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-22 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: accel/amdxdna: Remove __counted_by from struct amdxdna_cmd_chain struct amdxdna_cmd_chain contains a flexible array annotated with __counted_by(command_count). Since the structure is stored in shared AMDXDNA_BO_SHARE memory, userspace can modify command_count concurrently. If command_count is changed to zero, the bounds check generated from __counted_by may fail and trigger a kernel panic. Remove __counted_by to avoid relying on the userspace-controlled command_count for the flexible array bounds check.
CVE-2026-98149 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 7.8 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Fix percpu map update indexing with sparse CPU IDs Per-CPU array, hash, and cgroup storage map updates without BPF_F_CPU or BPF_F_ALL_CPUS use a value buffer whose per-CPU slots are packed in possible-CPU order. The buffer is sized as: round_up(value_size, 8) * num_possible_cpus() The update paths iterate over possible CPUs, but use the logical CPU ID to calculate the source offset: value + size * cpu This only works when possible CPU IDs are contiguous starting at zero. For example, with a possible CPU mask of 0,2-3, the buffer contains three slots corresponding to CPUs 0, 2, and 3. CPU2 is therefore expected to use slot 1 and CPU3 slot 2. Instead, the current code uses slots 2 and 3 respectively, causing incorrect per-CPU values and an out-of-bounds read from the update buffer for CPU3. The corresponding lookup paths already use a dense offset while iterating over possible CPUs. Do the same for the array, hash, and cgroup storage update paths, advancing the source offset once for each possible CPU. BPF_F_ALL_CPUS continues to use the same value for every CPU.
CVE-2026-98151 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Fix REG INVARIANTS VIOLATION on speculative pointer arithmetic Take the following unprivileged program as an example: r0 = bpf_map_lookup_elem(...) /* PTR_TO_MAP_VALUE, offset 0 */ ... 14: r0 += r1 /* r1 is a bounded scalar */ 15: r9 = r0 Loading it triggers a verifier warning from reg_bounds_sanity_check(): verifier bug: REG INVARIANTS VIOLATION (alu): const subreg tnum out of sync with range bounds r64={.base=0x0, .size=0x0} r32={.base=0x0, .size=0xffffffff} var_off=(0x0, 0x0) What happens: 1. Processing insn 14 (r0 += r1) in adjust_ptr_min_max_vals(), the new offset is computed into dst_reg's var_off and 32/64-bit ranges. 2. Because pointer registers do not track 32-bit subregister bounds, __mark_reg32_unbounded() first sets r32 to the full range; r32 is re-derived from the offset at the end of the function by reg_bounds_sync(). 3. On the unprivileged path, sanitize_ptr_alu() is called and, via sanitize_speculative_path() -> push_stack(), snapshots the current register state and schedules the next instruction (insn 15) to be verified directly as a speculative path. 4. That snapshot is taken between step 2 and the final reg_bounds_sync(): at this point dst_reg's var_off still holds the (const) original offset while r32 has just been blanked to the full range, i.e. the two are out of sync. When the speculative path later verifies insn 15 (r9 = r0), the inconsistent state reaches reg_bounds_sanity_check() and trips the warning. var_off and the 32-bit range must always be consistent. There are two ways to keep the snapshot consistent: 1. sync var_off and r32 before the snapshot so they match, or 2. leave r32 at its original (already consistent) value and blank it only after the snapshot. The whole point of sanitize_ptr_alu() is to insert a harmless masking sequence that keeps the access in bounds under speculation, so the state it snapshots should faithfully represent that. Take approach 2: move __mark_reg32_unbounded() to after sanitize_ptr_alu(), so the speculative snapshot keeps the pointer's original, consistent r32. The non-speculative path is unchanged: r32 is still blanked before the offset is applied and re-derived by reg_bounds_sync().
CVE-2026-98153 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nvme: fix racy access to FDP placement id array nvme_query_fdp_info() is called per-path and therefore prone to races. It populates head->nr_plids/head->plids for fdp registration. But nothing protects that pair from concurrent access - two paths scanning the same namespace can race to populate it. Avoid the race by moving this initialization work to nvme_alloc_ns_head() which is called once per shared namespace.
CVE-2026-100072 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 7.8 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ACPI: platform: Use acpi_bus_get_primary_device() The acpi_get_first_physical_node() usage in acpi_platform_fill_resource() and acpi_create_platform_device() is generally unsafe because in theory the device returned by it may be freed at any time [1]. It is also inefficient because acpi_get_first_physical_node() is called multiple times for the same argument which can be avoided. Address these issues by using acpi_bus_get_primary_device() instead of acpi_get_first_physical_node() and adjusting the code to call it just once at the beginning of and acpi_create_platform_device() and drop the device reference acquired by it upon the return from that function.
CVE-2026-100071 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: hsr: free learned nodes on device setup failure hsr_dev_finalize() can fail after a lower-device RX handler has already been registered (slave A is added before the failable slave B and interlink adds). RX handlers run in softirq regardless of the master's state, so frames received in that window can learn dynamic nodes into node_db, and the error unwind never releases them. Free both owned dynamic databases in the unwind, mirroring hsr_dellink(). proxy_node_db is provably empty on every current error exit (only interlink RX feeds it, and the interlink add is the last failable step) and is freed for symmetry. The order is safe: hsr_del_port() unregisters each RX handler with synchronize_net() before hsr_del_nodes() runs, which removes remaining entries with list_del_rcu() and defers their release with call_rcu() for readers already under RCU.
CVE-2026-98785 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 4.7 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/display: check dc_state_create_copy() for NULL in dm_suspend dc_state_create_copy() can return NULL on allocation failure. dm_suspend() only conditionally skips dm_gpureset_toggle_interrupts() and continues execution, returning success. dm_resume() then dereferences the NULL cached_dc_state in link_enc_cfg_copy() and the following dc_state->stream_count loop, crashing during GPU reset recovery. Return -ENOMEM immediately if the copy fails, so the caller aborts suspend instead of leaving a NULL cached state for resume. (cherry picked from commit 84b6d7932fdd2857795a257f9f258562a3cddcab)
CVE-2026-98782 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 2.3 Low
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/mediatek: Fix ovl adaptor platform device leak mtk_drm_probe() creates an OVL adaptor platform device with platform_device_register_data() when the display pipeline requires the OVL adaptor. If a later initialization step fails, the probe error path releases the DRM resources without unregistering the already registered OVL adaptor device. The normal remove path likewise leaves the device registered after the DRM driver is unbound. Keep track of whether the OVL adaptor was successfully registered and unregister it on probe failure. Also recover the platform device from the stored DDP component device and unregister it during normal removal. The issue was identified by a static analysis tool I developed and confirmed by manual review.
CVE-2026-98781 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 2.3 Low
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/mediatek: Fix pdev reference leak in mtk_drm_bind() When the device is not the mmsys master, mtk_drm_bind() returns early after taking a reference on the disp-mutex device via of_find_device_by_node(), without ever dropping it: mtk_drm_unbind() only puts mutex_dev for the master. Drop the reference before returning from the non-master path.
CVE-2026-98777 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 3.3 Low
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: binder: fix leaked fd fixups on TF_UPDATE_TXN supersede When a TF_UPDATE_TXN transaction supersedes a pending async transaction in a frozen process, the outdated transaction is freed with kfree() directly. This skips binder_free_txn_fixups(), leaking all binder_txn_fd_fixup entries and their fget()'d struct file references. The leaked file refcounts never reach zero, so the struct file objects are permanently pinned in memory. They survive process exit and accumulate across invocations until file-max exhaustion. Every other transaction cleanup path (binder_free_transaction(), binder_transaction() error paths, binder_release_work()) correctly calls binder_free_txn_fixups(). Add the missing call before kfree() in the t_outdated cleanup block.
CVE-2026-98775 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nitro_enclaves: fix use-after-free on SLOT_ALLOC failure When ne_create_vm_ioctl() fails the SLOT_ALLOC request after anon_inode_getfile() has succeeded, the error path calls fput(enclave_file) and then frees ne_enclave. In normal userspace context, fput() defers the final __fput() via task_work. ne_enclave_release() therefore runs after ne_enclave has already been freed and dereferences ne_enclave->slot_uid, causing a use-after-free: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in ne_enclave_release. The enclave has no slot allocated and is not yet linked into the enclaves list on this error path, so ne_enclave_release() is expected to return early when slot_uid is zero. However, reading slot_uid already accesses the freed object. Clear enclave_file->private_data before fput() on the error path. ne_enclave_release() then returns immediately when private_data is NULL, leaving the ioctl error path as the sole owner of ne_enclave. This is safe because the file has not been fd_install()'d yet. Tested on an AWS EC2 m5.2xlarge with CONFIG_KASAN=y. Without the patch, the reproducer triggers a KASAN slab-use-after-free on every SLOT_ALLOC failure. With the patch, no KASAN report is produced and the SLOT_ALLOC error is still returned. Normal enclave creation and teardown are unaffected.
CVE-2026-98773 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 4.7 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: USB: cdc-acm: skip URB restart in port_shutdown if disconnected acm_port_shutdown() is called from the tty-port machinery whenever the last user closes the port. acm_disconnect() sets acm->disconnected and calls tty_port_tty_vhangup(), which eventually triggers port_shutdown(). At that point acm_disconnect() has already called acm_poison_urbs() and is about to free the control and read URBs. However, acm_port_shutdown() unconditionally calls acm_unpoison_urbs() and, when the ALWAYS_POLL_CTRL quirk is set, immediately re-submits the ctrlurb and all read URBs. If the concurrent acm_disconnect() then frees those URBs and their DMA buffers while they are in-flight, the result is a use-after-free in acm_ctrl_irq() or acm_read_bulk_callback() accessing the freed DMA memory. Fix by checking acm->disconnected after draining the delayed anchor and returning early: if we are in a disconnect path the URBs must remain poisoned and must not be resubmitted. The early return is placed after the delayed-anchor drain loop because that loop only cancels write-side accounting (wb->use = false and autopm counter) and does not touch the hardware path.
CVE-2026-98764 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 4.4 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: gadget: f_fs: Fix NULL pointer dereference in FUNCTIONFS_ENDPOINT_DESC When user space sets up FunctionFS with only full-speed descriptors (e.g., flags = FUNCTIONFS_HAS_FS_DESC) and the gadget operates at a higher speed (such as USB_SPEED_HIGH or USB_SPEED_SUPER), config_ep_by_speed() detects that the function lacks descriptors for the current speed, logs a warning, and falls back to full-speed descriptors. The endpoint is then successfully enabled via usb_ep_enable(), and epfile->ep becomes valid. However, when user space subsequently issues the FUNCTIONFS_ENDPOINT_DESC ioctl to query the endpoint descriptor, ffs_epfile_ioctl() selects the descriptor index solely based on gadget->speed: switch (epfile->ffs->gadget->speed) { case USB_SPEED_SUPER: case USB_SPEED_SUPER_PLUS: desc_idx = 2; break; case USB_SPEED_HIGH: desc_idx = 1; break; default: desc_idx = 0; } desc = epfile->ep->descs[desc_idx]; memcpy(&desc1, desc, desc->bLength); Because user space only supplied full-speed descriptors, epfile->ep->descs[1] is NULL. Dereferencing desc->bLength triggers an immediate kernel NULL pointer dereference panic. Fix this by falling back through lower speed descriptors if the current speed descriptor was not supplied, matching the fallback logic in config_ep_by_speed() and historical f_fs behavior. If still missing, fall back to epfile->ep->ep->desc (the active descriptor), and return -EINVAL safely if no valid descriptor is found. In addition, mark desc as const to match struct usb_ep::desc and avoid discarding qualifiers.
CVE-2026-98760 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 6.1 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: typec: tipd: fix uninitialized typec_partner_desc in tps6598x_connect() tps6598x_connect() passes a stack-allocated typec_partner_desc to typec_register_partner() after initializing only usb_pd, accessory and identity. typec_register_partner() copies attach and deattach from the descriptor into the partner. With those fields left unset, garbage function pointers may be stored and later invoked from typec_partner_link_device() when a USB device is linked to the port. Uninitialized pd_revision and usb_capability similarly leak stack data through partner sysfs. Zero-initialize the descriptor so optional callbacks remain NULL and the remaining fields are zero.
CVE-2026-98756 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 4.1 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: cdns3: Fix NULL pointer dereference in cdns3_pci_probe The Cadence USBSS controller is a two-function PCI device. The first probed function allocates the driver data and stores it with pci_set_drvdata(), while the second function reuses it via pci_get_drvdata() when pci_is_enabled() reports that the first function has already been probed. When the second function is probed while the first one has been enabled but has not yet set its driver data, pci_get_drvdata() returns NULL, and the subsequent wrap->devfn assignment dereferences a NULL pointer and crashes the kernel. logs: Call trace: cdns3_pci_probe+0xa4/0x300 local_pci_probe+0x44/0xa8 pci_call_probe+0x54/0x158 pci_device_probe+0x84/0x100 really_probe+0x184/0x3d0 __driver_probe_device+0x80/0x178 driver_probe_device+0x44/0xe8 __driver_attach+0xec/0x1f8 bus_for_each_dev+0x7c/0xe0 driver_attach+0x28/0x38 bus_add_driver+0x110/0x238 driver_register+0x64/0x128 __pci_register_driver+0x50/0x60 cdns3_pci_driver_init+0x28/0x38 do_one_initcall+0x5c/0x280 do_initcalls+0x104/0x1d8 kernel_init_freeable+0x140/0x218 kernel_init+0x28/0x1f8 ret_from_fork+0x10/0x20 Return -EPROBE_DEFER in this case so that probing is retried after the first function has completed its probe.
CVE-2026-98755 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 3.3 Low
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tty: vcc: zero-initialize control packet in vcc_send_ctl() The stack-allocated struct vio_vcc pkt was partially initialized, leaving the tag.stype_env field uninitialized before being sent via ldc_write(), potentially leaking kernel stack data to the LDC peer.
CVE-2026-98743 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ASoC: codecs: rt1017-sdca-sdw: fix uninitialized stream_config->type stream_config is not initialized before being passed to sdw_stream_add_slave(). The type field may contain garbage and is later copied to stream->type by sdw_config_stream(). Zero-initialize stream_config so type defaults to SDW_STREAM_PCM. While at it, use snd_sdw_params_to_config() helper instead of open-coding the same logic.
CVE-2026-98741 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-21 7.8 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: ua101: reject mismatched capture/playback packet sizes detect_usb_format() cross-checks bSubframeSize, bBitResolution and tSamFreq between the capture and playback interfaces, but never relates the two endpoints' wMaxPacketSize and bNrChannels. Each playback URB gets a buffer of ua->playback.max_packet_bytes, while the number of bytes written into it is derived from the capture stream: capture_urb_complete() computes frames from the received capture packet and capture.frame_bytes, and start_usb_playback() and playback_work() multiply that by playback.frame_bytes. A device declaring a large capture wMaxPacketSize with few capture channels and a small playback wMaxPacketSize with many playback channels therefore memset()s and memcpy()s past the end of the playback buffer, in open() of the PCM node the driver registers during probe. usb_submit_urb() rejects the over-long iso_frame_desc[0].length with -EMSGSIZE, but only after the write. Reject such descriptors at probe time. Genuine UA-101/UA-1000 hardware declares proportional packet sizes and is unaffected.
